On January 30, 1979, the Board of Government voted to combine the two funds into the Howe-Walker Fund with the income from the joint fund being used to provide prizes, called the Howe-Walker Awards, to members of ASCE Student Chapters in Massachusetts. This award is presented to a senior from each of the Student Chapters at the annual Student Night.
