A bequest of $2,000 was received in 1949 from the late William P. Morse, a member of the BSCES. No restrictions were placed upon the use of the fund. It was decided that the income be used for the benefit of the Society and its members. On April 5, 1954, the Board of Government voted "to appropriate from the income of this fund a scholarship to be known as the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship in memory of William P. Morse, and that it be given to a civil engineering student at Tufts University."
Currently, the Younger Member Group and the Student Chapter Committee oversee the use of the fund to ensure it is utilized for its intended purpose.
