This 18th Arthur Casagrande Memorial Lecture will present the findings of a decadal long study that investigated the multi-faceted performance of urban stormwater green infrastructure (GI) in New York City. The study considered not only the hydrological performance of different engineered GI interventions, but also how social and policy dimensions might influence the success, or otherwise, of city-wide GI programs for urban stormwater adaptation.
Patricia Culligan is the Matthew H. McCloskey Dean of Notre Dame’s College of Engineering. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in water resources and geo-environmental engineering, including her work on sustainable urban infrastructure. The author or co-author of over 190 technical articles, Culligan was awarded the ASCE H. Bolton Seed Medal in 2021 for her contributions to expanding the boundaries of geoenvironmental and sustainability engineering to enhance human health and the environment.
