Kinetic Demolition & Engineering, LLC (KDE), formed in 2022 by partners Colin O’Hearn, PE, and Shane Sullivan, is a heavy civil demolition contractor specializing in bridge demolition. KDE is a proud union contractor signatory to the operator and laborer unions in the Northeast and a member of the National Demolition Association. KDE has performed work in every state in New England as well as New York. While their primary focus is bridge demo, KDE’s project experience also includes dismantling steel tanks and buildings.
After graduation from UMass Lowell, Colin O’Hearn, PE, got his start in the demolition industry in 2006 working for Testa Corp. He went on to gain experience working in a variety of roles at several large demolition contractors in Massachusetts. In his last role prior to starting Kinetic Demolition & Engineering, Colin served as Vice President at Atlantic Coast Dismantling. Colin is a registered professional engineer in seven states (MA, ME, RI, CT, NH, VT, and PA) and in addition to his role as CEO of KDE, Colin provides construction engineering and consulting services. He has contributed to many large heavy civil demolition projects including Longfellow Bridge, Fore River Bridge, Commonwealth Avenue Bridge in Massachusetts; Sarah Long Bridge in Maine; Memorial Bridge in New Hampshire, I-10 Twin Span Bridge in Louisiana, Bayonne Bridge in New Jersey, and many other high-profile jobs. Most recently, Colin was asked to provide his engineering expertise in support of the emergency cleanup efforts following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.
