This webinar will discuss the growing presence of drone technology in the Transportation Industry. The presentation will share firsthand experience on both advantages and limitations of drone use and discuss the liabilities and hidden costs associated with operations, training, logistics, FAA requirements, and compliance. This webinar will also present some exciting examples of what can be done with drones.
John Diaz - As Vice President and Project Director of GPI New England’s Traffic Engineering Division, Mr. Diaz is constantly exploring new technologies and approaches to enhance the design and/or operations of transportation systems. He has been involved with Advanced Real Time Traffic Signal Performance Measures for traffic signal optimization, Adaptive Traffic Signal Systems, Drone Use in Transportation Design and Operations. Mr. Diaz has also developed GIS Based Traffic Sign and Traffic Signal asset management systems and Mobile LiDAR for Asset Management Data Collection.
David Price – Mr. Price has more than 30 years in aviation education in New England and is a licensed Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor. As GPI’s lead UAS Pilot, Mr. Price has conducted numerous bridge and building inspections via drone. He has also conducted many aerial survey mapping projects over conservation areas, coastal areas, and both highway and railroad corridors.
