• 9 AM -  11:45 AM:  Engineers and Land Surveyors Day + Water's Worth It Day – briefing in the Great Hall, 2nd Floor, Massachusetts State House and then short meetings in legislative offices, based on where you live and vote.

• 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM:  Public Water Systems Awards Day Lunch, Great Hall, 2nd Floor, Massachusetts State House

Before you Register below, look up the names of your state legislators

• To participate in the 2 morning appointments that we will schedule for small groups of constituents based on where you live and vote in Massachusetts, you will need to tell us the names of your State Senator and your State Representative.
• Check for these names on the Legislature's website: https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator
  • Enter your home address on the FindMyLegislator site, then press Search
  • Look for the names of your State Senator and your State Representative, shown on the page. Write those names down. Then register on the link below before May 1 and tell us their names.

Then Register Here before May 1

We’ll send draft Issue Briefing Materials on May 5 with final materials on May 9.

• Monday, May 8, 10:30 - 11:30 AM
• Tuesday, May 9, 1:00 - 2:00 PM

• Registration/Breakfast (continental) and pick up folders for you and your legislators, Massachusetts State House, Great Hall - 2nd Floor. 

9:20 AM - 10:15 AM

• Issue Briefing and Briefing with a Legislator (TBA), Massachusetts State House, Great Hall - 2nd Floor. 

10:30 AM (Senate) and 11:15 AM (House)

• Scheduled meetings with your state legislators, Massachusetts State House

11:45 AM - 1:30 PM

Water's Worth It Day: Public Water Systems Awards Day

• Awards for municipal water systems from MassDEP and EOEEA
• Be sure to register for this lunch if you can stay, or return any follow up materials and return to your office

On May 11, 2023, ACEC/MA, BSCES, MALSCE,  MWWA, MWEA, and others will gather at the Massachusetts State House for our Annual Engineers and Land Surveyors Day + Water’s Worth It Day at the State House along with leaders from other engineering and design-related associations. 

These organizations co-sponsor the day:

• American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA)
• Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section/ASCE (BSCES)
• Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE)
• Massachusetts Water Works Association (MWWA)
• Massachusetts Water Environment Association (MAWEA)
• Massachusetts Highway Association
• MMA
• The Engineering Center Education Trust (TECET)

We arrange for meetings with our members’ Massachusetts State Representatives and State Senators based on where our members live and vote. 

Engineers and Land Surveyors Day is an important part of our advocacy efforts; the one day each year when we as a profession gather in force at the State House and present our industry's viewpoints in person to our local legislators. It is a chance for you to meet with your State Representative and State Senator to discuss issues pertinent to our industry, to you as an individual professional, and to you as a citizen. We coordinate this event annually to promote communications with our state legislators, arranging appointments, providing briefing sheets on key issues for ACEC/MA, BSCES, MALSCE, and coalition partner associations to utilize, and establishing teams of local residents to meet with their legislators

Lobbying in Massachusetts: 

Changes in the lobbying laws over the past few years have the effect of sweeping some activities into the category of "lobbying" which previously may not have been considered lobbying. As long as you are participating in Engineers and Land Surveyors Day as a representative of at least one of our associations, discussing the issues set for the day, you do not have to register as a lobbyist.
