Civil engineering firms can do more to make the civil engineering profession welcoming to a broader array of prospective employees by giving more consideration to non-U.S. citizen job applicants, and in the process, they can benefit from the technical skills and varied experiences those candidates can add to the workplace. Attorneys Lauren Sigg and Megan Naughton (Robinson & Cole, LLP) will discuss current legal options for expanding the employee pipeline in the civil engineering sector through taking advantage of opportunities to hire and retain foreign national engineers and students on a temporary (nonimmigrant) or permanent (immigrant) basis.
