The Fenway Center Phase 2 project is a one million square foot air rights development. The project spans over I-90 and MBTA Commuter Rail tracks between Beacon Street and Brookline Ave, thus creating a two-acre parcel that will support green space and buildings. The Phase 2 buildout includes Beacon Tower and Brookline Tower, a 22 story building and a 12 story building respectively, with nine levels of automated parking between the two. Both towers consist of lab and office space as well as amenities to support the tenants and retail space.
The project is being developed by IQHQ and Meredith Management as part of the redevelopment of Turnpike Air Rights Parcel 7. The initial project gained initial approval in 2009. The foundations and deck are currently under construction by J.F. White and began in April 2021. The green space and buildings on deck will be constructed by follow-on contractor John Moriarty & Associates.
This presentation and tour will highlight the foundation construction, deck installation, and mitigating impacts to the traveling public during construction. The team will also discuss multiple design and construction aspects and challenges of this new landmark feature bridging the Kenmore and Fenway neighborhoods.
Attendees must sign a site tour liability waiver and return in advance of the tour to bsces@engineers.org.
