This is the first in a series of BSCES Program Committee-sponsored webinars featuring the use of innovative technologies in engineering. The first programs in this series will feature unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and vehicles (UAV), which are otherwise known as drones. Our speakers will discuss AECOM’s success in application of drone technologies for the inspection of bridges and other infrastructure. Practical advice and lessons learned will be offered regarding drone regulations affecting bridge inspections, characteristics and applications of commercially available drones, and digital imaging technologies for deterioration assessment. Game-changing digital imaging technologies include photogrammetric 3D modeling, orthographic imagery, digital image processing, and temporal subtraction.
