This presentation will provide a quick introduction to offshore wind and the current status of the industry in the US. The focus will then shift to the strategic concerns facing port infrastructure and the site-specific considerations that need to be analyzed. Example ports and their planned future uses will be discussed. The second half of the presentation will be on landfall and Point of Interconnection (POI) construction considerations to include Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) design and development, onshore cable route planning and development, and substation siting and construction. The presentation will conclude with an overview of the job opportunities available to Civil Engineers in the industry and a 30-minute Q&A session.
