Zoom Webinar
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Speaker:
Fred Cassellius, PE
Senior Project Manager, Alfred Benesch & Co.
Springfield Street/Memorial Avenue (Route 147) is an urban principal arterial within Agawam and West Springfield, Massachusetts. The two towns are connected by the Memorial Avenue bridge over the Westfield River, which carries about 23,000 vehicles per day. There are three signalized intersections within the project limits with existing capacity issues. The roadway between and extending beyond the signals is primarily commercial/retail with isolated areas of residential buildings.
In this webinar, we will discuss how Alfred Benesch & Co. worked closely with MassDOT and the towns of Agawam and West Springfield to ensure the highest level of accommodation could be achieved while balancing construction cost and impact to abutters. Additionally, we will discuss some of the challenges associated with the project and how they were resolved.
