BSCES offers comprehensive technical training. The BSCES Program Committee is charged with developing the society’s technical workshops which range from half-day to multi-day programs that seek to impart more in-depth practical knowledge and technical skills. With programs targeting the educational needs of civil engineers with various levels of experience, perennial technical workshops include National Highway Institute-developed training (e.g., Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, Tunnel Safety Inspection, and Bridge Inspection Refresher Training), which can run from three to ten days. The Program Committee has also offered single day programs on a variety of topics including drainage design, building sustainably and resiliently in FEMA special flood hazard areas and many more. See the events calendar for more.
