This training will familiarize and educate inspection teams on the proper use and application of the new “MBTA Rail Transit Tunnel Inspection Manual” for tunnel safety inspections. Attendance is highly recommended for anyone who may use this manual.
The MBTA Rail Transit Tunnel Inspection Manual establishes procedures and practices for the inspection of the MBTA rail transit tunnels comprising the Blue, Red, Green, and Orange lines, including the various abandoned sections of tunnel along these lines, and air-rights structures (within the tunnel envelope) that are constructed by the MBTA or on MBTA property in the future. These procedures and practices may also be used for inspection of MBTA commuter rail tunnels. The purpose of the manual is to establish best-practice requirements for the inspection of the MBTA rail transit tunnels, as defined above, to ensure the tunnels are kept in a state of good repair, to ensure the safety of the traveling public, and to ensure the continued performance of the rail transit infrastructure.
(This training is not an FHWA/NHI training and does not provide any credit towards the FHWA/NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection course.)
