Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our innovative team. The Project Engineer will manage projects from conception to completion, with direct oversight of consultants and contractors for the preparation of detailed construction bid documents. The Project Engineer will manage the bidding process for construction and Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for consulting services. This role involves overseeing project activities and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timelines and budgets are met. Additional responsibilities include conducting site visits, inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a proactive project management approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee every aspect of assigned projects, guiding them from initial conception through to final completion, ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Develop comprehensive construction bid documents and Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for consulting services, ensuring clarity and competitiveness.
  • Continuously monitor and manage consultants and contractors to maintain project scope, timelines, budgets while mitigating risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinate and facilitate daily project activities, ensuring all team members are aligned and informed of their responsibilities.
  • Accurately interpret and analyze construction plans and specifications to guide project execution effectively.
  • Leverage expertise in construction and demolition practices to inform decision-making and enhance project outcomes.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant permitting regulations, maintaining adherence to legal and safety standards.
  • Utilize industry-standard software, including CAD, ArcGIS, and Adobe, to create and manage detailed project documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products to create reports, presentations, and other essential documents.
  • Foster effective communication with all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare detailed procurement documents, such as Invitations for Bids (IFBs) and Purchase Orders, to facilitate efficient project procurement processes.
  • Deliver informative public presentations as required, effectively conveying project details and progress to various audiences.
  • Supervise roadway construction, utility installations, and demolition projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety regulations.
  • Uphold safety standards and regulatory requirements across all projects, implementing measures to protect workers and the public

Competencies:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Project Management is required; alternatively, an Associate degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience may be accepted.
  • Candidates should have 3 to 8 years of experience in both fieldwork and office environments related to civil engineering construction, focusing on management responsibilities in public projects.
  • The ability to accurately interpret construction plans and specifications is essential for this role.
  • Candidates must have a strong understanding of construction practices and the permitting processes for public projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software, ArcGIS, and Adobe Creative Suite is required to perform job duties effectively.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and communication skills are vital for engaging stakeholders and conveying project details.
  • Experience managing state or federal grant awards is a plus.
