This year, the Younger Member Group (YMG) is pleased to celebrate 100 years of civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). WPI’ s Department of Civil, Environmental, & Architectural Engineering (CEAE) is recognizing its 100th anniversary with special activities to honor its past and celebrate its future. WPI, which was founded in 1865, is the nation’s third-oldest private technological university. Founded amidst the bustle of the American Industrial Revolution, the Institute took a unique approach to preparing the professional scientists and engineers who would make the discoveries, invent the technologies, and found the companies needed to drive the development of a young nation. Since WPI’s Civil Engineering program was established 100 years ago, the institution has striven to make giant leaps in study, research, and innovation. Working with WPI’s world-class faculty and using state-of-the-art facilities, students conduct research with global implications in areas like structural design, construction, infrastructure, health monitoring, sustainability, water resources, and pollution prevention and remediation.
YMG is excited to invite everyone to join their upcoming events, including the WPI CEAE Department’s 100th anniversary.
