Members of the UMass Amherst ASCE Student Chapter are looking for volunteers to judge two events happening at the ASCE Region 1 Northeast Student Symposium on Thursday and Friday, April 17 & 18, 2025, at UMass Amherst.
The paper competition for the Daniel W. Mead Prize requires judges to read the submitted papers on this year's contest topic ahead of time and then be onsite to judge representatives from the submitting chapters' five-minute presentations. The Student Poster Competition would require judges to view posters highlighting the submitting chapters' 2024 community service efforts and ask submitters questions about the impact of their efforts during a 1-2 hour session. The judges will select a Symposium Community Service Award Champion who will become a Richard H. Scranton Outstanding Community Service Competition finalist.
Please email ASCE Region 1 Treasurer Brad Summerville at bradsummerville@ptconsultantsinc.com if you are interested.
