The BSCES Leo Casagrande Scholarship is a scholarship established in memory of Leo Casagrande, a distinguished geotechnical engineer, researcher, and educator. A former faculty member at Harvard University and research assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Casagrande made groundbreaking contributions to soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree with a geotechnical focus. It aims to support and recognize exceptional students who are dedicated to the advancement of civil engineering. The scholarship serves as a tribute to Casagrande's legacy and his lasting impact on the profession.
The Geo-Institute Boston Chapter is, now through Tuesday, April 15, accepting applications for the fall semester of the academic year beginning in the fall of 2025 and has a total value of $2,000. This award may be used for tuition, books, housing, or other education-related needs.
